As part of a capital improvements campaing, the International Speed Corporation branch of NASCAR is seeking to improve the overall experience for race fans and visitors during event weekends. Major challenges include limited routes for egress post-race, allowing for convenient pedestrian access to larger areas of the grounds, and to bring the excitement of the race atmosphere to a larger portion of the overall development. Based on a state fair model, proposed improvements include temporary and permanent event structures, a new fan-based entertainment zone located at the infield, and an expansion of the seating capacity around turns one and four.
